Blaufrankisch 2021
Vintage Notes:
A mild winter lead into a mild and beautifully warm spring. The large cropload and rainy summer and fall made for an extremely extended growing season. The whites came in with flinty minerality, high acidity and interesting flavors. The reds were an even bigger surprise. Racy but with tempered acidity, silky delicate tannins, cedar and herbaceous notes without being vegetal. Graceful and poignant, 2021 reds will be wines to watch as they develop over coming years.
Tasting notes
Dark chocolate and leather hit the nose, followed by bing cherry and black currant. On the palate, strawberry rhubarb pie and fruit leather. A subtle hint of baking spice and just a touch of smokiness on the finish.

Winemaker Notes:
Also called Lemberger, it is a similar to Pinot Noir (distant relations) but much more cold hardy for the region. Cold soaked for 3 days before thrice daily punchdowns in open top vessels. Malo-lactic fermentation completed in barrel with twice weekly lees stirring to build texture and complexity.
